EEC (Eta Engineering Consultants) was asked by one of the largest electric power companies in the United States to provide Power System Operation and OSHA NFPA 70E training at their various generation facilities. There were three major goals of the training:
- Gain familiarity with various electrical equipment in a generation facilities

- Learn about the hazards involved in the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment
- To become familiar with methods to reduce exposure to those hazards per OSHA and NFPA 70E requirements
EEC’s electrical engineering staff provided overviews of typical substation components, single-line diagrams, maintenance techniques, and proper grounding. The training provided the utility company’s staff with in-depth knowledge to help understand the environment in which they work.
EEC also provided information to familiarize the staff with OSHA and NFPA 70E regulations and how they affect them while performing their routine job functions. The course was supported with actual examples, pictures and videos. EEC also worked with the utility company’s engineers to develop the training program and harmonize it to the company’s in-house policies and procedures.
